Arecibo High Frequency System

2012–2013

I took over the hardware design and fabrication of Arecibo Observatory's ionospheric modification high frequency system hardware when I joined STAR-H Corp. I led significant rework of the designs to improve manufacturability, and introduced 3D printed jigs and other process efficiencies to complete delivery.

The six deployable crossed-dipole antennas were installed in 2013 and are visible in the dish in the photo above (credit to Mariordo on Wikipedia). Unfortunately the observatory was destroyed in 2020.
